Helping At Neighboring WakeMed Cary Hospital!
Residents are proud of continuing The Templeton of Cary’s commitment of service to the local community. One of the benefactors, neighboring WakeMed Cary Hospital.
A year ago, a group of needle workers (The Templeton Threads) began knitting and crocheting comfort items which are donated to WakeMed. The items are placed on a courtesy cart and given to patients free of charge. To date the group has donated nearly 100 baby hats, baby blankets and adult wraps and blankets.
A second group has now formed . The Templeton Threads includes sewers who are creating quilts for adult patients. These include, special red, white and blue quilts given exclusively to veterans). In addition, quilts to cover incubators for babies in the NICU.
Being a “good neighbor” to WakeMed Cary also extends to several residents who volunteer in the hospital weekly. Performing tasks as varied as rocking babies in the nursery, to taking the courtesy cart throughout the hospital halls, door to door to dispense comfort items. Finally, Life Enrichment Director Joyce Aschenbrenner currently serves as president of the hospital’s Volunteer Board of Directors.
